SLSR troops bade farewell to outgoing Major General Kanishka Heiyantuduwa

The Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Regimental HQ at Ambepussa on Monday (03 April 2023) in a fitting ceremony bade formal farewell to retiring Major General Kanishka Heiyantuduwa upon completion of more than 34 years of valuable service to the organization.

The formalities observed at the SLSR Regimental HQ included a Guard Turnout, accorded by SLSR troops soon after he arrived at the entrance in keeping with military traditions. The Deputy Centre Commandant, SLSR, Colonel Vajira Amarasiri welcomed the day’s Chief Guest at the entrance before he was formally received by the SLSR Centre Commandant, Brigadier Chaminda Thibbatuge together with Mrs Ashika Thibbatuge welcomed Mrs Senani Opatha.

After a while, an elegant Guard of Honour parade saluted him, watched by a representative gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks. Subsequently, he made a floral tribute to the SLSR War Heroes' monument and saluted the memory of fallen War Heroes as a part of the day’s agenda.

Afterwards, the retiring senior officer joined All Ranks for refreshments at the main auditorium. Later, the retiring senior officer posed for a group photograph before a formal dinner reception got underway.

On the same occasion, a special memento was presented to outgoing Major General Kanishka Heiyantuduwa by Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Quarter Master General and Colonel of the Regiment SLSR as a symbolic appreciation of his dedicated and committed services, rendered to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.

Meanwhile, President of the Sinha Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Omila Jayawardena awarded special memento to Mrs Senani Opatha and members of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment young cougar’s club awarded mementoes to the son and daughter of the outgoing Major General Kanishka Heiyantuduwa.

Major General Kanishka Heiyantuduwa spoke to All Officers gathered and expressed his gratitude for the assistance and the support given by all in carrying out his duties as a member of the 'Sinha' family.

Senior Officers including Council members and batch mates of the outgoing Senior Officer , Staff Officers, Officers of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and their spouses attended the event at the Officers' Mess.
