Coincide with international women's day, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch organized a special event for its members under the guidance of Mrs Omila Jayawardena, President SLSR SVB and the blessings of Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Quarter Master General (QMG) and Colonel of the Regiment SLSR on Saturday (11).
President SLSR SVB graced as the chief guest of the day’s event and lit a traditional oil lamp followed by keeping one minute silence to mark the inauguration of the proceedings.
This special programme focused on uplifting the standards of spouses and families of fallen war heroes and 30 spouses from those families attended the event. In line with self-employment skills among those, a few lectures were conducted to educate them on the role and tasks of the National Craft council by Mrs Tharaka Thilini Kulathunga, District Coordinating officer, Colombo and a lecture on vegetable and Chilli cultivation was conducted by Mrs Kosali Gunasekara, Senior instructor of Vocational Training Authority (VTA).
At the end of the sessions, the lecturers were given a token of appreciation by Mrs Omila Jayawardena, President SLSR SVB and similarly awarded special gifts to the participating spouses of fallen war heroes' families at the venue.
Colonel Wajira Amarasiri, deputy Centre commandant SLSR, Senior members of SLSR SVB, a few Staff officers and other ranks attend the event.
