The Sri Lanka Army Para Committee Annual Inter Regiment Army Power-Lifting championship got underway on 16 July 2022 at the ‘Ranviru Sevana’ Ragama.
The Championship for Weight-Lifting was won by the Sri Lanka Light Infantry while the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment secured 2nd place and the Gemunu Watch became 3rd.
40 Para Weight- Lifters representing Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, the Gemunu Watch, Gajaba Regiment, Commando Regiment, Special Force, and the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps participated in the different weight classes in the tournament.
The Chief Guest for the finals and the award ceremony was Major General B. S Senerathyapa Commandant, the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Colonel of the Regiment Special Force Regiment and the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Para Committee. He gave away the certificates, medals and trophies to the winners at the end of the tournament.
The event was coordinated and organized by Headquarter Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the guidance of Lieutenant Colonel Kamal Ganarathne and with the close supervision of Major Prasanjana Matararachchi 2nd in Command HQ Battalion SLSR.
