SLSR Inaugurated Truncheon House and Modern Attractive Two Holiday Bungalows Vested in SNCOs & Other Ranks

The opening ceremony of the newly constructed Truncheon House of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) at Ambepussa took place on Saturday (9) May 2020 at a ceremony, headed by Major General Manoj Mudannayake, Colonel of the Regiment SLSR and Director General Infantry of Sri Lanka Army.

After a warm welcome extended to him by Brigadier Ajith Pallawela, the Centre Commandant Regimental Centre SLSR, together with Major General (Retd) Kumudu Perera and Major General Jayantha Senevirathne, Commander Security Force West, the day’s Chief Guest was invited to the formal occasion of opening the new complex after cutting the ribbon and unveiling a plaque to the same effect.

Little while, placed the President Truncheon and the Regimental Truncheon inside the newly constructed Truncheon house by colourful parade with amidst religious observances by Maha Sanga. Approximately, Rs. 5 Million has been spent on the construction of Truncheon House by the troops of SLSR.

Later, the Colonel of the Regiment SLSR and the invitees attended an opening ceremony of a newly constructed Holiday Bungalows namely ‘Kadupul’ and ‘Madara’ at Regimental Centre, Ambepussa and vested to the Senior Non Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks.

The new construction atop a tiny hilly slope, equipped with all modern facilities was built by SLSR troops with the guidance of the Corps of Engineer Services (CES) Regiment troops using Rs. 6 million of the Regimental funds.

During a charm ceremony Chief Guest was unveiling a plaque of the newly constructed holiday bungalows while Major General (Retd) Kumudu Perera and Major General Jayantha Senevirathne cutting the ribbons respectively.

The Chief Guest and other Senior Officers signalled the auspicious inauguration of this much-needed and attractively-built Holiday Bungalows ‘Kadupul’ and ‘Madara’. Thereafter, the Colonel of the Regiment together with the Senior Officers observed the premises while inquiring into different aspects of the interior arrangements.

Meanwhile, the day’s Chief Guest gave away certificates of appreciation to the troops who contributed their valuable service for the project of constructing of Holiday bungalows and Truncheon house. The Senior Officers, their spouses, Staff Officers and the Other Ranks of the SLSR attended the opening ceremony.
