Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment bade formal farewell to retiring Brigadier S K M M N K Mahanthe KSP and Brigadier W T M P S Bandara after dedicating over 34 years of invaluable service to the organization in a fitting ceremony which took place on 31 May 2025 at Regimental Centre, Ambepussa.
Accordingly, the formalities observed at the Regimental Headquarters of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment included a Guard Turnout which was accorded soon after the retiring Brigadiers arrived at the entrance in keeping with the military traditions.
After a while, the retiring Brigadiers were saluted in a ceremonial parade and watched by a representative gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks. Subsequently, they made a floral tribute to the Sinha War Heroes’ monument and presented final salute to the fallen War Heroes as a part of the day's agenda. Later on, the retiring Senior Officers joined the All Rank tea. Afterward, they gathered for a group photo, followed by a formal lunch reception.
On the occasion, special mementos were presented to the outgoing One Star Generals by Major General J K R Jayakody RWP USP, Deputy Commander Security Force Headquarters (West) and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment as a symbolic appreciation of their dedicated and committed services rendered to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and the Army.
Senior Officers and Regimental Council members and batch mates of the outgoing Senior Officers, all officers of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and their spouses attended the event.
