SLSR Colonel of the Regiment Continues His Visits to SLSR Battalions

Prior to his retirement Major General Kithsiri Liyanage, Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment visited the 17th, 15th, 11th, 23rd, and 20th Battalions of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) which deployed respectively in Kompawiththikulam, Periyawalayankddu at Vavuniya, Kurukkalmadam at Batticaloa, Sengamuwa at Pottuvil and Goothamigama, at Yala Katharagama areas during 6th and 8th of May 2022.

The visiting Colonel of the Regiment was welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Kulathilaka Kumarasiri, Commanding Officer 17(Volunteer) Battalion of SLSR at the main entrance of the Battalion Headquarters at Kompaviththikulam, Omanthai, Vavuniya. Later, troops of 17(V) SLSR accorded a Guard Turnout, and the Colonel of the Regiment planted a sapling at camp premises.

Right after the briefing of the Commanding Officers at the main Office, he posed for a group photograph. Then he addressed the troops of the battalion discussing several administrative matters.

Thereafter, the Colonel of the Regiment visited the 15(Volunteer) Battalion of SLSR at Periyawalayankaddu in Vavuniya where Major Jayantha Rajapaksha, Commanding Officer 15 (V) SLSR welcomed him amidst simple military formalities. Thereafter, the day's Chief Guest joined sapling planting in the HQ premises before he declared open the New Conference Hall, a long-felt facility in the 15 (V) SLSR camp premises. Afterwards, he addressed the troops before he received a formal briefing of the role and tasks of the battalion.

During those meetings, Major General Kithsiri Liyanage addressed the troops and encouraged them to perform their duties in a more efficient manner and work for the best interests of the Army.

Meanwhile, he also visited the 11 (Volunteer) Battalion of SLSR at Kurukkalmadam, in Batticaloa, on the 6th of May 2022 where Major Manjula Udayakumara, Commanding Officer (CO) 11 (V) SLSR welcomed the visiting Colonel of the Regiment at the main entrance. Troops of the 11 (V) SLSR accorded a Guard Turnout. Signifying the event, the visiting Colonel of the Regiment planted a sapling at the camp premises and addressed the troops of the battalion later on.

On the same day evening, the Colonel of the Regiment visited 23 SLSR at Sengamuwa in Pottuvil and 20 SLSR at Goothamigama in Yala Katharagama where Major Wasantha Munasinghe, CO 23 SLSR and Major Ajith Thilakasiri CO 20 SLSR welcomed him respectively, and in accordance with the military traditions, troops accorded drive past Guard Turnouts at the main entrances of the battalion headquarters on 8th of May 2022. Afterwards, following the customary, the visiting Colonel of the Regiment planted saplings at each of the camp premises. He addressed the troops of the battalion before he posed for the group photograph.

Brigadier Wiraj Wimalasena, Centre Commandant Regimental Centre, and Several Staff Officers of the RC SLSR accompanied the Colonel of the Regiment in his visits.
