The Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) conducted a 'Bakmaha Ulela' (Sinhala New Year) at Ambepussa SLSR Regimental Center, together with all Officers, Other Ranks, family members and civil employees on 19 April 2024.
Major General WPADW Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) and Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and Mrs Neluka Nanayakkara, Chairperson of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch attended as distinguished guests of the day’s event and they were received by Brigadier CS Thibbotuge, the Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and Mrs. Ashika Thibbotuge, Secretary of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch.
The festival marked the beginning by lighting the traditional oil lamp and consisted of numerous new year games, including, Marathon, Lissana Gaha, Kana Mutti, Baloon Blasting, Hidden Guest, Running with Lemon on a Spoon, Singithi Awrudu Kumariya/Kumaraya and Awrudu Kumaraya etc where participants of all ages could participate.
Meanwhile, the Colonel of the Regiment along with the Centre Commandant and Senior Officers gave away gifts to the winners in different competitions conveying best wishes for a happy and prosperous Sinhala and Tamil New Year. Simultaneously, in appreciating the service of the civil staff serving the Regimental Centre, gift parcels were presented by the Colonel of the Regiment.
Council members, Senior Officers including Commanding Officers, SLSR-SVB members, Other Ranks, family members and civil employees attended the event.
