SLSR Bids Farewell to Outgoing Brigadier R.W.K Hewage

The Army troops attached to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Regimental HQ at Ambepussa bade formal farewell to the retiring Brigadier R.W.K. Hewage RWP RSP upon completion of more than 33 years of valuable service to the organization in a fitting ceremony which took place on Monday (16 October 2023).

Accordingly, the formalities observed at the Regimental Headquarters of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment included a Guard Turnout which was accorded by the Army troops attached to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) soon after the retiring Brigadier arrived at the entrance in keeping with the military traditions. The General Staff Officer 1 of Veteran Affairs, Lieutenant Colonel P.W.R.W.M.J.R.D.W Pallekumbura welcomed the day’s Chief Guest at the entrance before he was formally received by the Center Commandant of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Brigadier C.S Thibbotuge together with Mrs Ashika Thibbotuge welcomed Mrs Wathsala Deepani Gunaratne.

After a while, the retiring Brigadier was saluted in a ceremonial parade and watched by a representative gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks. Subsequently, he made a floral tribute to the SLSR War Heroes’ monument and saluted the memory of fallen War Heroes as a part of the day's agenda.

Afterwards, the retiring Senior Officer joined the All Rank tea. Later on, he posed for a group photograph before a formal lunch reception got underway.

On the very occasion, a special memento was presented to the outgoing Brigadier R.W.K Hewage RWP RSP by Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardena RWP RSP ndu, the Quarter Master General and Colonel of the Regiment SLSR as a symbolic appreciation of his dedicated and committed services rendered to the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.

The retiring Senior Officer, spoke to all Officers gathered there and expressed his gratitude for the assistance and the support given by all in carrying out his duties as a member of the ‘Sinha’ family.

Meanwhile, Chairperson, Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Mrs Omila Jayawardena awarded a special memento to Mrs Wathsala Deepani Gunaratne. Senior Officers and Regimental Council members and batch mates of the outgoing Senior Officer, Staff Officers, Officers of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and their spouses attended the event.
