Sinha Seva Vanitha Members Marks International Women’s Day

A ceremony organized by the Sinha Seva Vanitha Branch to mark international women’s day was held on 12 March 2022 at the Regimental Centre Ambepussa under the auspices of Mrs Darshani Liyange, the President of the Sinha Seva Vanitha Branch.

The workshop was held at the main auditorium with the participation of Commander Security Force – West and Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Major General Kithsiri Liyanage as the Chief Guest, Centre Commandant RC SLSR, Brigadier Viraj Wimalasena, members of the Sinha Seva Vanitha Branch, Officers, and Other Ranks were present on the occasion.

The event was ceremonially commenced right after the documentary Video on the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment followed by Seva Vanitha Anthem and two-minute silence in a solemn moment of gratitude venerated in memory of fallen SLSR War Heroes who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the motherland. Thereafter, the Coordinating Officer of the Sinha Seva Vanitha Branch, Major Chandana Bowala delivered the welcome speech.

Later on, the distinguished guests and the dignitaries joined the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, followed by a welcome dance of the SLSR cultural team.

Afterwards, the veteran chef, Mr Manoj Amaradeepthi, a present employee at the Citrus Hotel, Waskaduwa conducted a workshop for the Sinha Seva Vanitha members who participated in the women’s day programme.

During the workshop, all those participants were educated on ‘Chicken and Sweet Corn Soup’, ‘Caesar Salad’ and ‘Jaffna Crab Curry’ intending to encourage them for home-based ventures.

A Director and Tele drama actor, Deshamanya Mr Nalaka Hapugoda entertained the audience adding colour to the day’s programme.

A senior counsellor, Trainer, and veteran lecturer Mrs Ama Dissanayake educated the participants on “The Role of Wife for Good Marriage Life and how to mitigate the domestic issues” as a part of the programme.

Giving away the mementoes for the invited lecturers took place in appreciation of their invaluable service rendered sparing their time for the betterment of the military spouses. In addition, all the other members of the Singha Seva Vanitha Branch present on the occasion received a token for the Women’s day celebration.

The programme culminated with the vote of thanks given by Secretary Sinha Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs Jeevani Wimalasena.
