Sinha Regiment Honoured & Felicitated Newly-Promoted Major General at RC SLSR

The Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment’s (SLSR) Regimental Centre (RC) at Ambepussea in conformity with traditions greeted and extended felicitation to its newly-promoted Major General Rohan Ponnamperuma, General Officer Commanding, 68 Infantry Division on 18 June 2022.

Upon his arrival, Colonel Wajira Amarasiri, Deputy Centre Commandant at RC SLSR warmly received the day’s Chief Guests and accorded a Guard Turnouts at the entrance greeted him with military formalities.

A little later, the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Nishantha Muthumala and Parade Commander invited the day’s protagonist to review the Guard of Honour, accorded in honour and received the salutes of the SLSR troops.

Then, giving pride of place to the memory of all fallen SLSR War Heroes, Major General Rohan Ponnamperuma, laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ Monument and paid his tribute in a solemn ceremony.

Afterwards, he was invited to refreshment at Sergeants’ and Warrant officers’ Mess. Later, he posed for a group photograph at Officers’ mess RC SLSR as a gesture of memory.

Major General Priyantha Jayawardene, Commander Security Force – East and Colonel of the Regiment SLSR greeted him at the venue presenting a token of appreciation to Major General Rohan Ponnamperuma symbolizing his promotion to the rank of Major General.

Senior Officers of the SLSR, Officers and their spouses were associated for the day’s proceedings.
