FLYING COLORS TO 12 SRI LANKA SINHA REGIMENT

The ‘Company Training Course No – 1’ commenced on 4 January 2021 under the guidance of Major General S U M N Manage, General Officer Commanding 53 Infantry Division (RSF) at Air Mobile Training School at Nikawewa.

The course was successfully ended up on 11 April 2021 with the Flying colors to the 12 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. The company training course is a new concept introduced by the 53 Infantry division by changing the battalion training concept with the aim of improving the spirit of the companies and to give a specialized training to the under-command troops which is more suitable for the specialized role of the 53 Infantry Division.

The training module included all the basic training skills such as field craft, Map reading, Tactics and Firing. Further the specially introduced MOUT package, Watermen ship package and Lifesaving level 1 certificate package. The outdoor exercises included in the course where 3 Days IS Exercise, 4 Days jungle exercise and a Combat Hiker exercise to knuckles mountain range.

The course was followed by the 8 x officers and 272 other rankers of 12 SLSR, 5 Gemunu Watch, 8 Gajaba Regiment and 22 Gajaba Regiment. The ‘C’ Company of the 12 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment became the best all round company of the course and 2/Lieutenant K T Sandeepana of 12 SLSR became the best shooter of the course.

The awarding ceremony was held on 11 April 2021 and Brigadier P K S Nandana, Commander 533 Infantry Brigade graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
