THE ECO - FRIENDLY COMMUNITY BASED LIBRARY WINS SILVER MEDAL
The Eco - Friendly Community Based Library, built with the labour assistance of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Troops, using Eco - friendly techniques and modern architectural skill, has won the Silver Medal at the 4th International Eco - Friendly Constructions Tournament - 2015 and it was awarded at the library premises on 01 September 2015 which was organized by the Holcim Foundation in Switzerland. A total of 6000 contenders from 152 countries competed in this tournament with their new innovative projects where Colombia won the first place whereas Sri Lanka secured the second place. United States of America won the third place. This achievement is one of the stepping stone of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment\'s goal to become a knowledge hub in 2020 and this has given international recognition for Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.

Architects Mr.MilindaPathiraja and Ms. Ganga Rathnayake from Robust Architects Workshop in Colombo were presented with the Award on the site of the winning project in Ambepussa and also the entire workforce (soldiers) were presented certificates of accomplishment in building the library complex.
