Major General Manoj Mudannayake, Director General Infantry of the Army and Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, one of the Army-groomed dedicated Senior Officers on the eve of his retirement from the Army, had a courtesy audience with Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army in the Army Headquarters on Tuesday (12).
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva who has initiated the practice of personally wishing retiring most senior Officers during the brief interaction with Major General Mudannayake shared a few thoughts, pleasantries and recalled a few their past memories. Major General Mudannayake who has served the organization for more than three decades and the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment in particular held a number of key appointments, prior to the current office.
The outgoing Senior Officer also expressed his gratitude to the Commander of the Army for his continued support, professional guidance, best wishes and the thoughtfulness. Towards the end, Lieutenant General Silva awarded a special memento to the retiree as a symbol of his appreciation and commendation. The gesture was reciprocated.
