Major General Priyantha Jayawardena, Quarter Master General –Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) conducted an official visit to the SLSR battalions during 17-20 February.
The colonel of the Regiment SLSR visited, the 4th battalion SLSR in Nelliaydi- Jaffna, the 6th battalion SLSR in Visuwamadu- Kilinochchi, the 7th Battalion SLSR in Bogaswewa, the 9th battalion SLSR in Paranthan 10th battalion SLSR in Alampil – Mullaithivu,14th battalion SLSR in Oddusudan,16th battalion SLSR in Karappakutti –Vavuniya,5(v) battalion SLSR in Andankulam –Mullathivu 15 (v) battalion SLSR in Periyawalayankaddu –Vavuniya and 17 (v) SLSR in Pampeimadu Vavuniya during his official schedule.
Respective Commanding Officers of the Battalions welcomed the visiting Colonel of the Regiment with honour according to the military traditions and briefed the functioning of the battalions operationally and administratively.
Meantime, Major General Priyantha Jayawardena briefed his vision to the Commanding Officers and provided necessary instructions including training, discipline, security concerns and nations building for uplifting the battalion standards in all aspects.
In another gesture during the visit, Colonel of the Regiment marked the opening of newly constructed Officers mess at the 6SLSR with the invitation of Commanding Officer.
Senior Officers of the AOR, Brigadier Nishantha Muthumala, Centre Commandant SLSR, Lieutenant Colonel Indika Kamalgoda, Staff Officer 1 (A) RHQ SLSR, Major Geeshan Rupasingha, General Staff Officer 2 (Operations) and Regimental Sergeant Major RHQ SLSR attend the visits.
