2nd Phase of Coconut & Cinnamon Cultivation Project in Ambepussa Begins

Following the guidelines given by the Commander Security Force – East and the Colonel of the Regiment Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Major General Priyantha Jayawardene, troops of the Regimental Centre SLSR in Ambepussa launched the 2nd stage of the Coconut Cultivation Project by planting 1000 saplings.

With the patronage given by the Coconut Development Authority (CDA) of Sri Lanka, the Coconut Cultivation Project was initiated in the presence of the Centre Commandant RC SLSR Brigadier Nishantha Muthumala, Deputy Centre Commandant RC SLSR Colonel Wajira Amarasiri, with the troops planting 300 Coconut saplings on 25 July 2022.

Aiming to restore the eco-balance in the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment premises, transforming its soldiers into green soldiers, and forming a green crew, more than 1000 Cinnamon saplings were planted on the same day.

The project was coordinated by the 2nd In Command of the Admin Company, Captain Jagath Premakumara. Officers and Other Ranks of the Regimental Centre extended their support by contributing to the event.
