In remembrance of late Sergeant Senavirathna Banda AM who passed away on 07 February 2021 due to a nerve disorder whilst consuming long term medical treatments at army hospital Colombo while serving in the battalion, troops of 12 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment erected a new house at Rikillagaskada locality to the widow and three children of the deceased and ceremonially bestowed it to the family on 14 October 2023 whereas, when this unique circumstances faced by the family of the late Sergeant, who did not have a home of their own.
Late Sergeant Senavirathna Banda’s widow and three sons received the keys for the new house from Major General GRRP Jayawardena RWP RSP ndu, Quarter Master General – Army Headquarters Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment – Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment in the presence of Mrs. Omila Jayawardena, Chairperson of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch, Brigadier CS Tibbotuge, Centre Commandant - Sri Lanka Sinha Sinha Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel MCS Jayasekara USP, the Commanding Officer – 12 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, other Officers and other Ranks of 12 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
The house consists with three bed rooms, a dining hall, a kitchen and a bathroom were undertaken by technically qualified troops of 12 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment.
Under the 8th stage of “Ranaviru Housing Project”, this house construction project was concluded under the directions of the Major General GRRP Jayawardena RWP RSP ndu, Quarter Master General – Army Headquarters Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment – Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment for the benefit of late sergeant.
Mrs. Omila Jayawardena, Chairperson of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment Seva Vanitha Branch also jointly contributed with required monetary assistance and essential household items. In addition, Brigadier CS Thibbotuge, Centre Commandant - Sri Lanka Sinha Sinha Regiment and Lieutenant Colonel MCS Jayasekara USP, the Commanding Officer – 12 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment also provided assistance to the project in multiple ways during the house construction project.
