NEW HOUSE DONATED TO A SOLDIER OF THE 15 SRI LANKA NATIONAL GUARD

A newly constructed house was ceremonially handed over to S/107377 Private Ratnayake H.S. of the 15th Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard (15 SLNG) on 4 March 2026, in recognition of the severe financial hardships faced by the soldier due to the substantial medical expenses incurred for the continuous treatment of his 20-year-old son who is living with multiple disabilities.

Understanding the difficult circumstances of the soldier and the considerable monthly financial burden required for his son’s medical care, financial assistance amounting to LKR 1,500,000.00 was granted under the Full Housing Project, implemented under the noble concept of the President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, with the objective of uplifting the living standards and welfare of deserving Army families.

The construction of the house was carried out under the close supervision of the Commanding Officer of 15 SLNG, while the troops of the battalion generously contributed their labour, reflecting the strong sense of comradeship and collective responsibility upheld within the Sri Lanka Army.

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, together with the President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Swendrini Dissanayake, ceremonially handed over the newly constructed house to the beneficiary at a simple yet dignified ceremony, held at the invitation of Mrs. Kumarie Pallekumbura, President of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka National Guard.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Commander Security Forces (East) and Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard, Major General Janaka Pallekumbura, the Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka National Guard, Brigadier Rohan Wettasinghe, members of the SLNG Seva Vanitha Branch, and several distinguished military dignitaries.

Among the senior officers present were the General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, Major General Windana Kodithuwakku, the Commander 571 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Aruna Kulasinghe, along with a number of other senior officers and invited guests.

This meaningful initiative further reflects the unwavering commitment of the Sri Lanka Army and the Army Seva Vanitha Unit towards safeguarding the welfare, dignity, and well-being of soldiers and their families, particularly those facing extraordinary personal challenges.
