Following initiatives taken by both Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) and Commander of the Army and Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, Chairperson, SLNG Seva Vanitha Branch and President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) a new house was erected for the family of a late Sergeant of the 2 SLNG in Nawinna, Wariyapola with funds, made available by the SLNG-SVB, ASVU, donors and the SLNG Regimental HQ on Thursday (06 April).
The house was constructed by the troops of 2 Sri Lanka National Guard (2 SLNG). Mrs R.M.G.R.K Rathnayake, the spouse of late Sergeant of the 2 SLNG who passed away while serving in the 2 SLNG was the beneficiary.
Several donors living here and overseas offered monetary assistance for the project at the request of Seva Vanitha ladies.
Soon after the formal warming of the new house was over, Mrs Liyanage gave away a stock of kitchen accessories including a blender, rice cooker, porcelain glasses and washing machine, etc to the family.
Members of the Seva Vanitha Branches, Centre Commandant, Senior Officers and Officers attended the event.
