Major General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu assumes office as the Colonel of the Regiment, SLNG

Major General Vikum Liyanage assumed office as the 20th Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) on Tuesday (13) at the SLNG Regimental Centre.

The Colonel of the Regiment on arrival at the Regimental premises was greeted to a Guard Turnout at the entrance and welcomed by the Centre Commandant Brigadier W M D S K Gunawardhane RSP KSP. Thereafter the Colonel of the Regiment placed a floral wreath at the fallen war heroes’ monument of Sri Lanka National Guard and later he placed his signature to a formal document amidst religious observances to signify the acceptance of the new office.

Afterwards, Colonel of the Regiment added memories to assumption of his new office by planting a sapling in the premises, then following a troops address at the Guardians Facility Complex. Thereafter following an Officers' address culminated the simple ceremony. The Centre commandant, Regimental staff officers, Commanding officers and Regimental staff attended the event in accordance with the health guidelines issued by the AHQ and health authorities of Covid 19 preventive unit.
