The officers’ training day of Sri Lanka National Guard got underway on 13 June 2017 for the second quarter of 2017. The event had been organized on the guidance and supervision of Colonel of the Regiment, Major General A P De Z Wickramaratne RWP ndu psc and it was attended by over 200 SLNG Officers with Council Members.
The training day commenced with morning physical fitness exercises and it included training of foot and sword drills for which all officers attended with much enthusiasm.
On the premise of the farsighted concept of the Colonel of the Regiment that ‘’All officers should be endowed with a wholesome personality nurtured with knowledge’’, several resourceful lectures were scheduled during the day. Staff Officer I of Career Progression Cell - Military Secretary’s Branch, Lieutenant Colonel BGS Fernando USP psc delivered a worthwhile lecture on ‘’Officers’ Career Progression and ACR” followed by a presentation on ‘’Chinese Influence on South Asian Nations” conducted by a panel of officers, headed by Commanding Officer - 9 SLNG. The invited lecture by Mr. Samantha Rathnayaka, Management Consultant at Post Graduate Institute of Management of University of Sri Jayawardhanapura grabbed the attention of all attendees.
Colonel of the Regiment, being the endearing forerunner of SLNG, has contributed immensely to up skill the troops in multi- faceted disciplines. The educative lecture presented by Colonel of the Regiment which had been fortified with the vast experience in field and knowledge of military disciplines enlightened all Officers on contemporary concerns.
