SRI LANKA NATIONAL GUARD CONCLUDES 27 GAINFUL YEARS OF VICTORIOUS MARCH
A number of events were organized at SLNG Regimental Centre to mark the 27th Anniversary of SLNG, the largest Volunteer Regiment of the SL Army, which would befall on 01 November 2017.
On the guidance of Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Piyal Wickramaratne,the Religious Activities were taken place in priority, a charismatic procession led by sacred relics and Maha Sanga ,proceeded to Regimental premises on 27 October 2017, followed by an all-night Pirith Chanting. A morning alms giving for 27 Buddhist bhikkus was offered the following day. Colonel of the Regiment Major General Piyal Wickramarathne , President Seva Vanitha Branch SLNG Mrs. Ruvini Sujeewa Wickramaratne with lady members, Centre Commandant Brigadier DHMWB Thammita, Senior Council members Brigadier Lal Chandrasiri and Colonel AJ gunawardane , Deputy Centre Commandant Colonel Nalin Bandaranayake ,Senior officers of SLNG and a large Number of other ranks were attended the Religious activities including the civilians of Weherawatte Village.
Coinciding with the Regimental Anniversary, a guard turn out and guard-of-honour are scheduled to be accorded to Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Piyal Wickramaratne. Further, Regimental drill platoon have arrange to conduct a spectacular display on the same day. Col of the Regt would plant a sapling to mark the Regimental Anniversary after which all would pose for a photograph.
Arrangements have been made to host a tea and an All Ranks lunch as well. A commemoration ceremony to pay respects to fallen war heroes would be conducted at 1500hrs besides the Regimental War Hero Memorial, the same day.
