SLNG New year festival got underway on the guidance of Colonel of the Regiment on 29 April 2017 at Public ground Wehera Kurunegala. Nestle Lanka (Pvt) Ltd extended there Generous contribution by way of sponsoring the festival.
Pot Cracking,Pillow fight,Grease-pole climbing, Cycling races, Marathon runs, Selection of the \"Singithi Avurudu kumari\" (New Year Little Princess) and \"Aurudu kumari\" (New Year Princess), Tug -of War,Singing folk songs and several other enchanting performances and other age-old practices were among the highlights that dominated the day\'s chain of events to the much amusement of all the onlookers.
Construction of a model \"Gemi Gedara\" (Typical Village House) remained a spectacle in the ground with typically clad villages,including damsels.
Colonel of the Regiment Major General A P De Z Wickramaratne RWP ndu psc took time off to grace the day\'s celebration,\"Guardians Bakmaha Ulela 2017\" as the Chief Guest together with Mrs. Ruvini Sujeewa Wickramaratne, President,SLNG Seva Vanitha Unit, SVU members,Centre Commandant, Deputy Centre Commandant,Officers,Other Ranks and neighboring villagers.
