NEW SEVA VANITHA PRESIDENT TAKES OVER SLNG SEVA VANITHA UNIT (SVU)
Mrs. Ruvini Sujeewa Wickramaratne assumed duties as the new President of the Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Sri Lanka National Guard at a function held at the Regimental Centre Sri Lanka National Guard on 21st October 2016 upon conclusion of the tenure of former President, Mrs. Thelma Perera.\r\nSignifying the acceptance of the SLNG SVU office which is dedicated for the promotion of welfare activities of War Heroes and their families, Mrs. Wickramaratne awarded scholarships to children of SLNG service personnel who are presently following their higher education, students who have been qualified for university education and some children with special needs. Mrs. Wickramaratne also handed over the key of a newly built house to S/2Q00852 Lance Corporal Nimal Bandara UN of 2 SLNG during the day’s proceedings. The donated house had been constructed with the contribution extended from Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), Regimental Centre SLNG and 6th Battalion SLNG.\r\nAddressing the audience at the inaugural committee meeting, new President elaborated on future programmes to be undertaken by SVU for the wellbeing of Guardians. \r\nOffice bearers and a large number of members of the SVU along with regimental staff were present at the occasion.
