WORKSHOP CONDUCTED FOR REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJORS AND DRILL INSTRUCTORS

A 2-day Workshop was conducted on 13 and 14 July 2017 for the benefit of unit RSMs and Drill Instructors at Regimental centre, for the first time in Regimental history.

This was organized as per a concept of the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Piyal Wickramaratne, who always endorses knowledge enhancement of Officers and NCOs in view of Regimental uliftment, following his unit visits. Nearly 50 RSMs and Drill Instructors were attended the session and the programme encompassed with physical exercises, foot drills, sword drills and several valued lectures on Regimentation.

Veteran experts were called up for the lectures on the instructions of Colonel of the Regiment. Major Udaya Mallawarachchi, clinical psychologist was invited for the lecture on counseling whilst WO 1 BDS Hemachandra (retd) SLSC and WO I KAR Seneviratne (retd) SLSC conducted the session with the lectures of Regimentation which includes the duties of RSM & DI. And S/Sgt Basnayaka BMS from the Dte of P&R also made a fruitful contribution about the procedures of Pay & Records.

It is expected invariably to ensure proper unit control, smooth functioning of unit administration and welfare facilities, through this kind of programmes. The proceedings concluded with a get together arranged at WOs & Sgt mess.

Kind regard should be bestowed on Col of the Regt Maj Gen Piyal Wickramarathne for leading the Regt staff in organizing such a valuable session for the 1st time in Regimental history and for the live contribution for calling upon the veteran lectures created the success. .
