SVB - SLNG CONDUCTED A LECTURE ON ‘MENTAL HEALTH AND CONTENTED FAMILY LIFE'

The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka National Guard conducts a valuable lecture titled ‘Mental Health and Contented Family Life’ was conducted on 15 February 2026 at the Regimental Centre.

The lecture was delivered by Major Gihan Hewanayake, SLNG, presently serving as the Second-in-Command of the 8th Battalion, Sri Lanka National Guard. The session focused on enhancing mental resilience, fostering mutual understanding within families, and maintaining a balanced and harmonious domestic life amidst the demanding nature of military service.

Approximately 120 families representing officers and other ranks from all battalions of the Regiment participated in the programme. The interactive session enabled participants to openly discuss challenges faced in military family life and gain practical guidance on maintaining emotional stability and unity.

The Commander, Security Forces (East) and Colonel of the Regiment, Major General J S B W Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, highlighting the importance of mental well-being as a cornerstone of operational effectiveness and Regimental strength.

At the conclusion of the programme, a memento was presented to the guest lecturer by the Colonel of the Regiment together with the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch, Mrs. Kumarie Pallekumbura, in appreciation of his valuable contribution.

The event concluded with refreshments and lunch being served to all participants, marking another meaningful welfare initiative under the guidance of the SVB - SLNG.
