SLNG Seva Vanitha monthly General meeting got underway on 21 May 2017 at the auditorium of Regimental Centre under the auspices of Hon. Chairperson of SLNG SVU Mrs. Ruvini Sujeewa Wickramaratne.
A number of welfare necessities were donated for the battle- related incapacitated war heroes and family members of war heroes who laid their lives for the betterment of motherland.
School items were also given away to children of disabled war heroes whilst visually impaired war heroes were gifted with spectacles by the Hon chairperson. The spectacles were donated by the Lions Club.
Valuable necessities were presented to Dilanka Dhananjanee, the daughter of S/1Q00890 Lance Corporal Sumanadasa LR of 1SLNG who lost his life at the battle, by the CEO of Hydrophonia Del Coco Sri Lanka, Mr. Aroshan Wirckramanayaka and his father coinciding With Dilanka’s pass with flying colours at 2016 A/L Exam. The grant was coordinated by Lieutenant Colonel TLP De silva.- SLNG.
Further, 17 Chemo Beds granted by France Sri Lanka welfare Association for the use of cancer patients were also officially handed over to SLNG SVU. 15 of the said beds were to be given to Cancer Prevention unit at Teaching Hospital, Kandy whilst 2 beds would be given to Army Hospital and the donation was coordinated by Lieutenant Colonel UGCK Punchinilame and Mrs Punchinilame. Colonel of the Regiment, Major General AP De Z Wickramaratne RWP ndu psc graced the occasion whilst it was attended by Fr. Terrance Bodhiyabaduge of Sri Lanka France Welfare Association, its deputy secretary Mr. Roshantha Kirieldeniya , Ms. Maneesha Kirieldeniya ,Mr Mohamed, Director- Ecogreen (Pvt) Ltd, Mr Herath, members of SVU, Centre Commandant Brigadier DHMWB Thammita and a section of SLNG & regimental Staff officers.
