In a commendable move towards sustainable fundraising, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) has launched a Coconut Husk cutting project. This initiative, introduced under the guidance of Major General P R Pathiravithana USAWC psc, Commander of Security Forces (East) and Colonel of the Regiment of the SLNG, aims to generate funds through eco-friendly means.
The project is being spearheaded by Mrs. Sumangali Pathiravithana, Chairperson of the SLNG Seva Vanitha Branch, who has taken an active role in its planning and execution. As an initial capital investment, a coconut husk cutting machine worth Rs. 275,000 was purchased using funds from the Seva Vanitha account.
The ceremonial launch of the project was held on 05 March 2025, where Mrs. Sumangali Pathiravithana officially inaugurated the initiative. The event was attended by senior members and representatives of the SLNG Seva Vanitha Branch.
This initiative not only contributes to the welfare fund but also highlights the innovative spirit and dedication of the SLNG Seva Vanitha Branch in supporting regimental and community development.
