Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), Major General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu who recently took over office of the Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (Comdt SLAVF) was felicitated when he made his formal maiden visit to the SLNG Regimental Headquarters on Monday (25) upon assumption of the new office.
On arrival at the main entrance, he was warmly welcomed by Brigadier W M D S K Gunawardhane RSP KSP, Centre Commandant at SLNG Regimental HQ, together with Council members, Commanding Officers and several other Senior Officers. The day’s Chief Guest was greeted to a Guard Turnout at the entrance to the premises soon after his arrival in accordance with military traditions.
The day’s formalities at the SLNG Headquarters added more significance as the visiting Comdt - SLAVF was invited to plant a sapling after offering Guard of Honour as a gesture of memory. He also took time off to mingle with a cross section of the gathering while sharing a couple of thoughts with them and receiving best wishes that were there to greet him.
Subsequently, the Comdt - SLAVF commenced the new solar power generation project construction works and visited the carbonic manure production project at RHQ SLNG, further the chief guest shared a cup of tea with all ranks as the final event of the day's programme and all events conducted under the health guidelines issued by AHQ.
