SLNG OFFICERS’ TRAINING DAY HELD FOR THE THIRD QUARTER -2017

The officers’ training day of Sri Lanka National Guard got underway on 25 Aug 2017 for the Third quarter of 2017. The event had been organized on the guidance and supervision of Colonel of the Regiment, Major General A P De Z Wickramaratne RWP ndu psc and it was attended by nearly 200 SLNG Officers with Council Members.

The training day commenced with morning physical fitness exercises and it included training of foot and sword drills for which all officers attended with much enthusiasm, at the newly constructed Parade ground which was declared open by the Commander of the Army a few days ago.

On the premise of the farsighted concept of the Colonel of the Regiment that, "All officers should be endowed with a wholesome personality nurtured with knowledge and should be empowered the subordinates". Several resourceful lectures were scheduled during the day at the new Auditorium Heraliyawala Watta. The head of the department languages SLMA Lt Col Kelum Wickramasinghe, delivered a worthwhile lecture on "Public Speaking and Presentation Skills", followed by a presentation on "United Nations Human Rights Commission and it's effects on Developing Nations" conducted by a panel of officers, headed by Commanding Officer - 3 SLNG. It was made more fruitful with further elaboration by Col of the Regt with his vast knowledge pertaining to the subject. The invited lecturer for the Diners Club Mr. Tharindu Dananjaya Weerasinghe, Senior Lecturer, Dept. of Human Resources Management University of Kelaniya grabbed the attention of all attendees with the lecture on "Empowerment of Subordinates".
