The SLNG Inter Battalion Swimming Championship got underway successfully on 04 August 2017 at the Swimming pool Complex of 21 Division Headquarters.
Even though SLNG showed Colors in many Sport events, its involvement in Swimming has been contrastively limited. Having noted this lapse, the Colonel of the Regiment – SLNG and the Chairman Army swimming & water ball committee, Major General A P de Z Wickramaratne RWP ndu psc guided the Regimental staff to organize this timely – valued Championship to harness of guardian Sports persons in the field of swimming.

5 SLNG Clinched the title of the event after a thrilling competition by 17 SLNG, who were placed runner-up. 5 SLNG secured the 3rd place of the overall event.
Deputy Centre Commandant Colonel JMRNK Jayamanna RWP graced the compaction as the Chief Guest and a host of officers and other ranks were in attendance to witness the competition.
