SLNG COUNCIL MEETING CONCLUDED WITH SUCCESSFUL GAINS

The 3th Regimental Council Meeting of SLNG presided by the incumbent Colonel of the Regiment, Major General A P de Z Wickramaratne RWP ndu psc was held on 6 July 2017 at the auditorium, SLNG Regimental Centre.

The regimental council is assembled quarterly as instructed by Colonel of the Regiment and it is worth noting that the regiment is in a successful progression with the far-sighted leadership of its chief. Approved was granted to set up a video and photography service to be employed for videoing/ photographing of important functions of service personnel. Instructions were issued on building Regimental Holiday Bungalows in reserved land in Trincomalee and Weerawila.the plans of the said constructions were approve3d at the meeting. Plans were also drafted to establish a ‘Q’ Stores at the Heraliyawatta Camp premises.

Progress of preparation of parade ground, constructions of Library complex at Heraliyatta camp, two storey billet for Servicemen, four-storey officers’ accommodation complex, renovations of WOs’ &SGTs mess, refurbishment of canteen was reviewed. Training and Knowledge empowerment of troops was taken for discussion and implementation of incentive grants for servicemen clinching national/international titles were also taken for contemplation.

A number of proactive decisions were taken at the meeting with a view to elevate regimental standards and necessary guidance is given by senior council members on the methodology to activate the same.
