A SERIES OF WELFARE INITIATIVES LAUNCHED BY GUARDIANS’ SEVAVANITHA BRANCH

A long-felt need of SLNG Seva Vanitha Branch (SVB) office was fulfilled on 12 August 2017 with the ceremonial inauguration of newly constructed SLNG - SVB office at Heraliyawalawatta camp complex, under the auspices of Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, president - Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU). Coinciding with the event, a series of welfare initiatives were also launched. 13 “Chemo Beds” valued Rs 4,250,000/= granted by France - Sri Lanka welfare association to SLNG-SVB were presented to cancer treatment unit at teaching hospital, Kandy. Further,04 “Chemo Beds ” were gifted to the government hospital Chilaw. President ASVU presented souvenirs to chairperson, France- Sri Lanka welfare association, Mr Sanath Fernando and vice secretary Roshantha Kirialdeniyage in appreciation of their invaluable generosity. Further, 03 Hearing aid sets each valued Rs 100,000/= were donated to the children with disabilities of hearing of guardian servicemen ,by Doctor S N U Jayawardhana, serving in Colombo North Teaching Hospital, Ragama. 34 wheelchairs valued Rs 680,000/= donated to SLNG - SVB by “Sinhavalokana” international foundation, were presented to Mrs Chandrika Senanayake by Mrs Ruvini Sujeewa Wickramaratne , in view of welfare of disabled war heroes. President of SLNG SVB, Presented a Cheque amounting Rs 200,000/= to President - ASVU to be utilized for welfare measures of disabled war heroes and a special memento was presented to mark this memorable visit. President - ASVU took time to visit Ranaviru Paper Recycling project functioning under Army SevaVanitha Unit upon conclusion of the day’s main proceedings flanked by former presidents and members of SLNG SVU. Mrs Chandrika Senanayake planted an Ironwood sapling in the Pangolla camp premises to mark the visit. With the conclusion of the day\'s proceedings, she put a special note in the Guardians visitors\' book after facing a group photograph with all the participated ladies.
