Major General NR Lamahewage RWP RSP ndu assumes office as the Colonel of the Regiment, SLNG

Major General Ranjan Lamahewage assumed office as the 19th Colonel of the Regiment, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) on Friday (15) at the SLNG Regimental Centre

The Colonel of the Regiment on arrival at the Regimental premises was greeted to a Guard Turnout at the entrance and welcomed by the Centre Commandant Brigadier K M Thilakarathne. Thereafter the Colonel of the Regiment placed a floral wreath at the fallen war heroes’ monument of Sri Lanka National Guard and later he placed his signature to a formal document amidst religious observances to signify the acceptance of the new office

Then he was invited to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour at the Regimental Centre parade ground. Afterwards, Colonel of the Regiment added memories to assumption of his new office by planting a sapling in the premises, Then following a troops address at the Regimental auditorium the Chief Guest was accompanied to an all rank tea held in his honour where he had a cordial interaction with the gathering. Thereafter following an Officers' address culminated the simple ceremony. The centre commandant, Regimental staff officers Commanding Officers few officers and Regimental staff attended the event in accordance with the health guidelines issued by the AHQ and health authorities of Covid 19 preventive unit.
