Guardians mela -2018, the flagship variety show organized by Sri Lanka National Guard, held on 12 and 13 October 2018 at Samodaya Ground,Mawathagama-Kurunegala for the 5th consecutive spell.
The multi – variety show coupled with a musical extravaganza, trade fair and festivities was spearheaded on the direction and guidance of SLNG’s Colonel of the Regiment Major General AWMAWN Ranawana RWP RSP ndc psc.
The variety show plus the fair was staged in order to raise funds for welfare of the families of fallen war heroes, differently abled service personal and for the upliftment of the regiment. The event drew huge crowds on both days and “Purple Range” musical band along with “Red Arrows” dancing group, provided entertainment to thronging crowds on 12 October. “Flash Back” musical band beautified the event on 13 October reverberating the surroundings, famous artistes too joined hands to add colour to the event. “ITN” and “ITN FM” were designated as official electronic media for the event and “Wijaya News papers (Pvt) Ltd provided print media sponsorship. Diana Biscuit Ltd provided the main sponsorship financial for the event.
The arrangement consisted of stalls, filled with festive decorations, Clothes, Dry Food items, Essentials, Readymade garments and many more things. Adventurous entertainment shows, Artillery displays and Armored vehicle show grabbed the attention of the teaming up crowds.
Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana graced the opening day and closing day proceedings as Chief Guest.
Centre Commandant SLNG, Brig SB Kohona, Deputy Centre Commandant Colonel Mahesh Kumara, Regimental Council Members, Regimental Senior Officers, Staff Officers and SLNG Commanding Officers were present during both days.
Colonel of the Regiment and all staff Officers convey the kind gratitude for all the contributors in various aspects who contributed for success of the event.
