Sixty one heroic members of Sri Lanka National Guard received Gallantry Awards in recognition of their allied or individual acts of heroism and bravery in the face of the enemy in the battle against separatist terrorism. This investiture of Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) and Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) gallantry medals for Army War Heroes who selflessly contributed to the durable peace in Sri Lanka before May 2009, took place on 03rd November 2016, during a ceremony at the Army Cantonment, Panagoda attended by the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva as the Chief Guest.
