Colonel WMDSK Gunawardhane RSP KSP assumes office as the officiating Centre Commandant of the Regiment, SLNG .

Colonel WMDSK Gunawardhane RSP KSP assumed office as the 7th Centre Commandant, Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) on Tuesday (07) at the SLNG Regimental Centre.

The Centre Commandant on arrival at the Regimental premises was greeted to a Guard Turnout at the entrance and welcomed by the Deputy Centre Commandant Colonel DS Senanayake. Thereafter the Centre Commandant placed a floral wreath at the fallen war heroes’ monument of Sri Lanka National Guard and later he placed his signature to a formal document amidst religious observances to signify the acceptance of the new office.

Then he was invited to receive the salute in the ceremonial parade at the Regimental Centre parade ground. Afterwards, Centre Commandant added memories to assumption of his new office by planting a sapling in the premises. Then following at the Regimental Officers’ Mess the Centre Commandant was accompanied to tea held in his honour where he had a cordial interaction with the gathering. Thereafter following a Commanding Officers Briefing the Deputy Centre Commandant, Regimental Staff and Commanding Officers attended the event in accordance with the health guidelines issued by the AHQ and health authorities of Covid 19 preventive unit.
