In accordance with the vision of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General Udaya Perera, programme to award scholarship to the children of the war heroes who sacrificed their lives and of the disabled personnel was launched in 2014 with the intention of helping those children in their education.
The same programme was continued and conducted on 29th December 2015 this year too at the Guardians Mela 2015 held at Maligapitiya ground Kurunegala.
47 children of the war heroes received their scholarships on this occasion. Mr Ricky wijesinghe, Rs One million and Mr Bishri Latiff, Rs 200,000.00 contributed financial sponsorship for this worthy cause as a result of the mediation of the Colonel of the Regiment.
