NEWLY APPOINTED REGIMENTAL CENTRE COMMANDANT OF THE CORPS OF SRI LANKA ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERS

Col SPAIMB Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc MMS MIAE(SL) MILT(SL) MIM(SL) took over the office as the 15^th Regimental Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, on 20^th January 2019 with religious blessings. He was enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army on 22^nd February 1988 and commissioned to the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as a Second Lieutenant on 16^th December 1989 having completed his Basic Military Training at Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa. He was subsequently promoted to the ranks of Lieutenant in 1991, Captain in 1993, Major in 1997, Lieutenant Colonel in 2008 and he promoted to the rank of Colonel on 01^st November 2013. Col SPAIMB Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc who counts over 30 years of notable service in the Army was well recognized for his performances and talents that he displayed throughout. Col SPAIMB Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc who has vast experiences in various capacities holding Command and Staff appointments, was overlooked duties of the Centre Commandant Regimental Centre in 2008 for a short period. He has served a number of Staff and Comd appointments in different capacities such as Adjt ITC Minneriya, SO III MGO Branch, SO II 23 DIV, 2IC in 5 Bn SLEME, Base Wksp KTB, Base Wksp UDW and 4 Bn SLEME, SO I Dte of EME, CO 4 Bn SLEME, Comdt Base Wksp UDW, Col Project Dte of EME, CI Sch of Log TCO, Col Admin & Log OCDS, Col AQ SF HQ(W) and BAQ SF HQ (W). Col SPAIMB Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc is an old boy of prestigious Maliyadeva college Kurunegala and Wesley College Colombo. He is married to Nandani Sasmarakoon and blessed with a daughter and son.
