NEW DIRECTOR ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERS ASSUMES DUTIES

Brigadier JARSK Jayasekara USP psc has assumed duties as the 18th Director in the Directorate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers at the Army Headquarters on 23 February 2022.Brigadier Ranjan Jayasekara was born on 24 September 1968 and completed his school education from Royal College, Colombo. He joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 14 July 1989 to the Officer Cadet Intake 32. After successful completion of the basic military training, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 19 January 1991. During his illustrious military career, he has followed many local and foreign courses such as Junior Staff Course in SLMA, Passed Staff Course in DSCSC, Young Technical Officer’s Course, Workshop Company Commander Course, Senior Officer EME Course in India and Ground Artillery repair Engineering Course in China. He held many appointments in unit line such as Adjutant, Workshop Officer Commanding, OC Admin, Commanding Officer - 4 Bn SLEME and Commanding Officer - 2 (V) Bn SLEME. Ruther he was appointed to a special assignment as the ADC to then Col Comdt – SLEME. He also held numerous staff appointments such as SO III at RHQ SLEME, SOII (Local Repair) at Dte of EME, Regimental Adjutant/GSO II at RHQ SLEME, SO I at RHQ SLEME, Directing Staff at ASL and DSCSC, Chief Instructor at ASL and Colonel Admin and Quartering at 12 Div. Other than that, he served as SO I (Chief of Logistics) in United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei and held the appt of Deputy Director at Dte of Overseas Operation, AHQ. Before taking over duties as Director EME, he held the appt of Commandant, Army School of Logistics.
