Colonel GDRUK Galhenege assumed office as the 1st Deputy Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Electrical And Mechanical Engineers Regiment (SLEME) on 11 June 2020 during a brief ceremony at the Sri Lanka Electrical And Mechanical Engineers Regimental Headquarters, Colombo. .
Colonel GDRUK Galhenege was born on 04 August 1967 and completed his school education from Poramadulla College & Vidyartha College Kandy. He joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet on 14 November 1989 to the Officer Cadet Intake 34B. After successful completion of the basic military training, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant on 14 November 1991.
He has held many command appointments in unit line such as Platoon Commander, Workshop officer, OC admin, Second in Command, CO 1 Battalion - SLEME, CO (Admin) - KDU. Before taking over duties as Deputy Centre Commandant he held numerous senior appointments as SO I (AQ) at 56 Div, SO I (AQ) Regimental Centre, Commandant EME Base Workshop -Udawalawa, Col (AQ) - 56 Div, Col (AQ) DSCSC – Sapugaskanda.
