Sports Achievements

Athletics

  • 1. Private Edirisinghe RD participated at the National Athletic Meet 1981 and won the Gold medal in Put Shot.
  • 2. In New Delhi Athletic Meet 1982, Private Edirisinghe RD won the Gold medal in Put Shot & won the Silver medal in Discus throwing.
  • 3. 1 SLAWC Athletic team participated at the All Island Athletic Championship organized by the Ministry of Health in 1994.
  • 4. In the All Island Athletic Championship, the best player trophy was won by Private Susanthika Jayasinghe.
  • 5. Private Susanthika Jayasinghe, Private Samandeepika, Private Dilrukshi Roopasinghe, Private Dilhani Roopasinghe, Private Edirisinghe RD, Private Chandralatha BG, Private Chamila SA and Private Saman Kumari S, have participated at the Open Club Relay Championship and won the 1st place in 4 x 100m, 4 x 400m and Medly relay in 1994.

Judo

  • 1. Second Lieutenant SA Subramanium participated at the National Judo Championship in 1991 & won the Championship.
  • 2. Second Lieutenant SA Subramanium participated at the 4th South Asian Judo Championship at New Delhi India and won the Bronze Medal in 1991.
  • 3. Second Lieutenant SA Subramanium participated at the Olympic Tournament in 1993 at Greece.

Weight Lifting

  • 1. Second Lieutenant EMIK Ekanayake and Lance Corporal Jayasundara JM won Gold Medals in the Asian Weight Lifting Tournament 1999 at New Delhi -India
  • 2. Private Silva JR won a Silver medal in the Asian Weight Lifting Tournament 1999 in New Delhi -India.

Taekwondo

1. S/59118 Corporal Gomas BJP has represented Sri Lanka in Many International Tournaments.

  • a. Represented Sri Lanka in the 16th World Armed Forces Taekwondo Championship 2004 in Germany.
  • b. Represented Sri Lanka in the 10th Asian Taekwondo Championship 2004 in Hong Kong.
  • c. Represented Sri Lanka in the 15th World Taekwondo Championship 2003 in Croatia.
  • d. Represented Sri Lanka in the Malaysian Taekwondo Championship 2004, 2005 & 2006 (Open).
  • e. Represented Sri Lanka in the 15th Asian Taekwondo Championship 2006 in Doha Qatar.
  • f. Represented Sri Lanka in 17th World Armored Forces Taekwondo Championship in 2008.
  • g. Won the Gold Medal in 4th Taekwondo Championship 2008 Open in Korea.
  • h. Won Gold Medals in National Taekwondo Championship from 2001 to 2008
  • Firing

    1. Lance Corporal Ramanayake TI won the Championship in the 22 Riffle Pin Hole Firing Tournament 1989.

    2. Corporal Kodithuwakku B represented Sri Lanka in the 14th Commonwealth Athletic Meet Pin Hole Firing Championship- 1990 at Vic land- New Zealand,

    3. Lance Corporal Ramanayake TI won the National Championships in 3x 20 Riffle Tournament -1990 and 40 rounds Air Riffle Tournament-1990, which was a National Record.

    4. Sergeant Wickramarachchi KD and Corporal Ranasinghe WMPD participated for the SAARC game in 1991 and won Gold and Silver medals.

    5. Staff Sergeant Ramanayake TI, Sergeant Wickramarachchi CK, Sergeant Wickramasinghe KDM and Corporal Ranasinghe WMPD were participated for the World Cup of Firing Tournament in 1991 in Switzerland .

    6. 1 SLAWC Firing team participated in SAARC games in 1991.

    7. Staff Sergeant Ramanayake TI participated for Sri Lanka in Olympic in 1992 at Basilona in Spain. She was the 32nd from 180 participants and won a Gold medal also.

    8. 1 SLAWC Firing team participated at the South Asian Firing Tournament in 1992 and Staff Sergeant Ramanayake PI won the Gold medal in the 3 x 20 Tournament.

    9. Sergeant Wickramarachchi CK was the best shooter and won the trophy in National Pin Hall championship in 1992.

    10. Second Lieutenant MEPSK Malapana, Sergeant Liyanage SM, Sergeant Weerakkody SPK, Lance Corporal Abeymanna MRT and Private Wickramasinghe WM patrticipated on the National Pistol Meet 1993.

    11. In 6th SAARC games 1993 at Dhaka - Bangladesh Sergeant Ramanayake TI won 3 Gold medals and 2 Silver medals, Sergeant Wickramasinghe KDM won 2 Gold medals and 1 silver medal. Corporal Ranasinghe WMPD won a gold medal and a Bronze medal, Private Samarakoon VR won a Silver medal.

    12. 1 SLAWC Team participated for the International Service and Police Practical Tournament on 1994. Second Lieutenant MEPSK Malapana won the 2nd place Private Wickramasinghe WM won the 3rd place, 1 SLAWC team ‘A’ won the 1st palce and 1 SLAWC team ‘B’ won the 2nd place.

    13. In Firing tournament Steel Trophy 1994 Second Lieutenant PMSK Malapana won the 1st place and the SLAWC team won the 1st place.

    14. In National Pistol Meet 1994 Sergeant Weerakkody won the 1st place individual tournament, Private Wickaramasinghe won the 2nd palce and Second Lieutenant MEPSK Malapana won the 3rd place. The group Championship were the SLAWC team.

    15. Staff Sergeant Ramamnayake TI, Sergeant Wickramasinghe KDM participated for the Commonwealth games 1994 and won the Gold medal in Air Rifle Tournament - Double.

    16. SLAWC Team participated in World Cup firing and shown many achievements in 1994.

    17. Warrant Officer I Ramanayake TI represented Sri Lanka in many International shooting competitions and she won a Gold Medal at Commonwealth Games, Canada 1994.

    18. Warrant Officer II Wickramasinghe KDN represented Sri Lanka in many International shooting competitions and she won a Gold Medal at Commonwealth Games, Canada in 1994.

    19. 1 SLAWC Team participated for the National Pin hall Rifle and Pistol Tournament and achieved national standards in 1994.

    20. Warrant Officer I BLRS Buthpitiya has represented Sri Lanka in many International shooting competitions and won Medals.

    • a. Represented Sri Lanka in Australian Practical Pistol Meet 2004 - Indonesia
    • b. Won 2nd place in Open Practical Pistol Firing Meet (Team) in 2005.
    • c. Won 2nd place in National Practical Pistol Firing Meet(Team) in 2006.
    • d. Won 2nd place in Open Practical Pistol Firing Meet (Team) in 2007.
    • e. Participated for the National Firing Tournament 2009 & won, 3rd place in 60 rounds prone position, 1st place in all three positions, 2nd place in Air riffle shooting.
    • f. Represented Sri Lanka for 5th South Asian Tournament 2009 at Bangladesh & won 2nd place in 60 rounds prone position shooting.
    • g. Represented Sri Lanka for 11th South Asian Tournament at Bangladesh and won 3rd place for all three positions (team).
    • h. Won 1st place in all three positions shooting in National Firing Tournament 2011 (Individual).
    • i. Represented for Open Firing Tournament 2012 & won, 1st place all three positions (individual),1st place 60 rounds shooting prone position. (Individual), 2nd place Air riffle shooting.
    • j. Represented Sri Lanka at the Armed Forces Shooting Tournament, China in 2013.
