Major General W W H R R V M N D K B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc the Commander, Security Force – Central was appointed as the 17th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps and took over his duties with military formalities on 21 August 2023 at RHQ SLAGSC.
The day’s Chief Guest on his arrival at the SLAGSC premises, was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Colonel Sarath De Silva and accorded with a Guard Turn Out. Afterwards, the Colonel Commandant laid a floral wreath at the war heroes’ monument to pay his tribute to the fallen heroes who made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the motherland. Subsequently, the Chief Guest was bestowed with a Ceremonial Parade.
In a harmonious blend of faiths, the Colonel Commandant took up his new responsibilities amidst a tapestry of religious observances in the presence of senior council members, officers and the staff of Regimental Headquarters.
As the next event of the day’s ceremony, Major General W W H R R V M N D K B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc attended for a tea with all Ranks at the lecture hall.
Finally, the Colonel Commandant addressed the Officers and Other Ranks who were present at the ceremony separately. At the occasion, he shared his views and thoughts while engaging with the gathering.
