Lt Gen Mahesh Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC, Commander of the Army visited Headquarters of 6th Battalion Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (Volunteer) on 18 January 2019 during his visit to declare open the newly commissioned MRE manufacturing facility at Kandakadu Army Farm.
Upon the arrival at HQ 6 SLAGSC (V) Commanding Officer of the unit Lt Col Ajantha Kaluarachchi SLAGSC along with the Centre Commandant SLAGSC, Brig Chanaka Weragoda warmly welcomed the Commander of the Army.
6 SLAGSC (V) was raised in 05 May 2011 to perform duties related to Agriculture & Livestock and established adjacent to famous 1150 acre NLDB Farm at Kandakadu in the vicinity of sacred Somawathiya Temple.
Comd of the Army discussed the progress of the unit and praised the development of infrastructure facilities by respective Commanding Officers since the establishment of the unit. Before his departure the Comd of the Army was invited to sign the visitors book and to plant a Mango sapling to mark his inaugural visit to 6 SLAGSC (V). The visit culminated with a group photograph all SLAGSC officers present during the visit by the Comd of the Army.
Director General Financial Management, AHQ and the Colonel Commandant SLAGSC, Major General Wajira Palihakkara USP, Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Aruna Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndc psc, Director Agriculture and Livestock, Brigadier Buwanaka Gunaratne, Centre Comdt SLAGSC Brigadier Chanaka Weragoda USP and few other senior officers were present at the occasion.
