Maj Nadishani Hettiarachchi (O/66974) became the first SLAGSC lady officer to qualify at the "Basic Airborne Course" bringing glory and credit to Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps in its 68 years of history.
The "Basic Airborne Course - No 83" was conducted for Officers and Other Ranks belonging to all Arms of the Army Regular / Volunteer units from 15 October 2018 to 08 December 2018 at the Commando Regimental Training School, Uva Kudaoya. Total number of 04 x officers and 36 x other ranks from all arms participated for the course and successfully completed the course.
Maj Nadishani Hettiarachchi joined the Sri Lanka Army Regular Force as an Officer Cadets on 24 September 2005. After completion of basic military training at KDU and SLMA she was commissioned to SLAGSC on 24 September 2007 and was posted 4 SLAGSC (P&R) on 23 February 2009. She performed Pay and Records duties since then and volunteered to follow the "Basic Para Course". Maj Nadishani Hettiarachchi is married to Squadron Leader Pathum Ramanayake and mother of baby Yenuka Binal Ramanayake. She is a proud product of Gothami Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo 10.
Major General Wajira Palihakkara Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC commended her courage and enthusiasm to take up a great challenge being a wife and mother of a young child. He wished her all the very best in her future endeavors along with Lt Col Sasanka Perera, acting Centre Commandant and Lt Col Sarathchandra De Silva, CO 4 SLAGSC (P&R). When Maj Nadishani produced her Para Jump Book License and Certificate to Colonel Commandant at RHQ SLAGSC on 02 January 2019.
