Maj Gen W R Palihakkara USP Col Comdt, SLAGSC and DGFM, AHQ visited Army Farms managed by Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock, AHQ at Cheddikulam (Menik Farm) located in SF HQ (Wanni) area and Army farm Vellankulam located in SF HQ (Kilinochchi) area on 26 July 2018.
Major J M A I Gunasekara SLAGSC, Commanding Officer, 2 SLAGSC (V) received Col Comdt on his arrival at the Menik Farm. The day's programme started with a briefing and a presentation highlighting the achievements since establishment of the farm. A mango sapling was planted by Col Comdt in the camp premises to mark his maiden visit to the location. During the camp visit Col Comdt observed the Agriculture Projects carried out by the staff. Subsequently, the all ranks tea was held at the ORs Mess and it was followed by the addressing of troops by Col Comdt.
Lt Col U A Kaluarachchi SLAGSC, Commanding Officer, 6 SLAGSC (V) received Col Comdt on his arrival at the Army Farm at Vellankulam. Capt L M R L Jayantha SLAGSC (V) OC, of the farm made a brief presentation to Col Comdt. Subsequently a Camp tour and visit to Agriculture field was carried out and it was followed by a troop address.
Director, Agriculture and Livestock, Brigadier Buwaneka Gunaratne, Centre Commandant, Colonel Chanaka Weragoda USP, Staff Officer 1 (Administration), RHQ SLAGSC Maj Chandana Kodithuwakku and few other senior officers were present during the visit.
