The Pay & Records office established at Headquarter Battalion - AHQ with 01 Officer 03 Other Ranks and 03 civil clerks on 14 October 1949. Later monthly pay system began instead of daily payments and Pay & Records office was shifted to Army cantonment on 01october 1958. With the retirement of civil clerks to perform those duties, Army clerks were enlisted. The Directorate of Pay and Records was established on 01 May 1994. With the expansion of Sri Lanka Army for effectiveness of Pay & Records duties, 4 SLAGSC (P&R) was established on approval of ප්ර/මාරා/52 (75) and 15 Nov 2006 DSD letter on 02 November 2006 with 30 officers and 545 Other Ranks. The first Commanding Officer of the 4 SLAGSC (P&R) was Lt Col P A Kaluarchchi SLAGSC.
