TRADE SCHOOL SLAGSC AND 1 SLAGSC DETACHMENT RECEIVED A NEW OFFICERS' ACCOMMODATION BLOCK

Trade School SLAGSC and 1 SLAGSC detachment, Kuttigala received a new building (65'x15') for "Officers' Accommodation Block" and declared open on 09 February 2019 by Major General Wajira Palihakkara USP, Director General Financial Management, AHQ and Colonel Commandant SLAGSC.

The building was constructed basically by utilizing local resources and the construction teams of SLAGSC and CES provided much needed assistance for construction work. The Colonel Commandant planted a Wood Apple sapling to mark the occasion which was followed by the officers' address and Tea.

At the outset the 1 SLAGSC detachment was established in year 1967 at Kuttigala and has contributed immensely to Agriculture activities of the Army. Subsequently, this Trade School which was positioned in Panagoda re-established at its present location at Kuttigala in 1998 under the guidance of RHQ SLAGSC with the aim of training the trade soldiers. Maj Gen Wajira Palihakkara USP was instrumental in forming the Trade School of SLAGSC in 1996.

Trade School SLAGSC is responsible of conducting Unit Accounts and Admin Officers' Course, Regimental Accounts Instructor Course (Other Ranks), Clerk Course, Regimental Accounts Pay and Admin Course for Non Commissioned Officers, Sinhala Language Course, Mathematics Training Course and Agriculture Demonstrator Course for all arms of the Regular/Volunteer Force of the Sri Lanka Army. At present, 12 x Offrs have been employed to facilitate courses and Agriculture projects which are ongoing at Trade School and 1 SLAGSC detachment.

Brig Chanaka Weragoda USP, the Centre Commandant SLAGSC, Colonel Saliya Padmashantha Lsc, the Commandant, Trade School SLAGSC, Commanding Officers of 1st, 3rd, 4th and 2nd Battalions, senior officers and officers representing all SLAGSC Regular/Volunteer battalions were present during the brief opening ceremony.
