SLAGSC Trade School at Kuttigala received Rs. 6.6 Million worth new building (100' 20') as student dining hall and Rs. 2.5 Million worth new armoury building. Both buildings were declared open on 24 Dec 2018 by Major General Wajira Palihakkara USP, Colonel Commandant and Director General Financial Management, AHQ.
The funds for both buildings were allocated by Directorate of Engineers Service, AHQ in 2017 and 2018 respectively. Engineer Service Regiment and SLAGSC construction teams provided much needed support for construction work. To mark the opening of the two building Colonel Commandant planted mango sapling which was followed by a Troop address and All Ranks tea.
SLAGSC Trade School is responsible for the conduct of Unit Accounts and Admin Officers Course, Regimental Accounts Instructor Course (Other Ranks), Clerk Course, Regimental Accounts Pay and Admin Course for Non Commissioned Officers, Sinhala Language Course, Maths Training Course and Agriculture Demonstrator Course for all arms. Approximately 80 x officers and 590 x Other Ranks successfully completed the said courses in year 2018.
Colonel Saliya Padmashantha, Commandant, SLAGSC Trade School, Lt Col Sasanka Perera SLAGSC, Acting Centre Commandant, Commanding Officers of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions, Major Chandana Padmakumara SLAGSC, GSO 1 RHQ SLAGSC and few officers representing all SLAGSC Regular / Volunteer units were present during the brief opening ceremony.
