The Inter Regiment Championship - 2018 organized by the Sri Lanka Army Body Building, Weight Lifting and Power Lifting committee was held from 18th to 20th December 2018 at the Army Weight Lifting Gymnasium at Army Cantonment, Panagoda with the participation of approximately 181 athletes representing all Regiments of the Sri Lanka Army.
The special award for the “Best Lifter” in the competition was won by S/O103055 L/Cpl Kumara W D I of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps in the 56 Kg category. He lifted a total of 235 Kgs (Snatch - 105 Kgs & Clean and Jerk 130 Kgs) to his credit.
In the womens' 48Kg category S/O103056 L/Cpl Abeysekara D D D of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps won the “Best Lifter - Female” by lifting a total of 128 Kgs (Snatch - 55 Kgs and Clear and Jerk 73 Kgs) to her credit.
Maj Gen Rukmal Dias USP ndc psc IG Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel Commandant Sri Lanka Artillery grace the occasion as the Chief Guest on the invitation of President Army Body Building, Weight Lifting and Power Lifting Committee, Maj Gen Wajira Palihakkara USP.
Mr. Army contest and the prize giving was held on 20th December 2018 at the APTS Gem Panagoda. SLAGSC Body Building team secured the champions trophy while the SLAGSC Power Lifting and Weight Lifting teams secured the 3rd place in the Inter Regiment Competition - 2018.
