Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps officers get together organized to coincide with the 67th Regimental Anniversary was held on 23rd September 2018 at the Kingsbury, Colombo. Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake RWP RSP VSV USP USACGSC, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army accompanied by Mrs Chandrika Senanayake, Chairperson Seva Vanitha Army Unit graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Past Regimental Commanders and Colonel Commandants of SLAGSC were present as Special Guests at the event on the invitation of Major General Wajira Palihakkara USP, Colonel Commandant, SLAGSC.
The Annual officers Get together, being one of the fine traditions of the Regiment, provides the reminiscence of great association, interaction, positive thoughts and lifelong memories is considered as the most memorable event in the calendar of SLAGSC. Approximately 293 x SLAGSC officers with their ladies attended the dinner and in total it was a record number around 415 officers and Guests altogether.
This colorful evening began with musical/ band extravaganza. Commander of the army was pleased by the interaction which took place with all retired and serving officers during the pre dinner session. Colonelv Commandant during his dinner speech while highlighting the recent achievements of the Regiment thanked the Comd of the Army and Mrs Chandrika Senanayake profusely for accepting the invitation to grace the evening. He paid a special tribute to the past Regimental Commanders and Colonel Commandants for the services rendered to uplift the Regiment. A token of appreciation was presented to the Commander of the Army by Colonel Commandant on behalf of all officers in honour of gracing the occasion. Mrs Chandrika Senanayake too, was presented with a token of appreciation by Mrs Kamani Palihakkara on behalf all ladies of the Regiment.
During his address to the august gathering the Commander of the Army acknowledged the remarkable progress made by the General Service Corps as a unique and a professional outfit. Adding more flavour to his speech the Commander highlighted pain staking efforts, commitment and hard work over the years by all senior officers to elevate the Regiment to the present status to serve with honour and pride under the Regimental motto "Service with Excellence"
At the conclusion of the proceedings Commander of the Army posed for group photographs with the past Regimental Commanders & Colonel Commandants, Council members and Commanding Officers. Before his departure the Commander of the Army placed his signature in the Visitors' Book.
